More Cricut Adventures

I have been feeling super crafty lately, thanks to my cool new pink cricut cutter. It has made me the idol of the elementary school teachers with my amazing bulletin board skills. It has also made me hang more things in my house than I ever thought I would. Taylor likes to laugh while I try to hammer nails into the walls. Thought I would post pictures of the projects I finished this week. I sewed the curtain for the kitchen and placed the board as a finishing touch. The blocks I sanded, stained, and mod podged. They'll go on my desk at school. And the Hatton sign is now one of many boards on my wall. They are just so fun and easy to make!

More Cricut Fun

It's been a month but I finally got my cricut cutter out again! I love how fast and simple it is to make something adorable. I planted these pansies a while ago. I don't know if they'll blossom again, but now there are flowers no matter what!

Oh how things change....

I had to laugh when I finally looked at my last blog post. Things have been far from boring lately. School is headed closer and closer to finals and I just feel further and further behind. I do feel that things are going a lot better in my own classroom though. I think I'm finally getting into the swing of a classroom routine and the kids feel it too. Though there are still moments where I utterly confuse them, I have managed to make it half way through the Utah core curriculum in record time! We are just hoping they do alright in the CRTs. With only half a year to get through the material it has been rather rushed.

It has also helped to be able to look forward to spring. We have had a few sunny days and it helps combat the snow that is currently falling outside. Someday it just might be warm again. Right now as I have studying, planning, sewing, and life to take care of it is good to remember that in a few months I'll be laying outside on a blanket, reading a book, and eating popsicles.

Boredom

Don't get me wrong...I am SO excited that it is spring break meaning a break from the STRESS of school, but I am so bored. I've finished off the last of our Doritos, ate more of the cookie dough than I baked, and spent the last 11/2 hours passing a level on Super Marios Bros Wii. I'm now at the point where I'm watching Morangos com Acucar. When you get to the portuguese soap opera stage you know you've reached a certain low. Tomorrow I will be doing a lot of school things, I just don't want to do them right now. Isn't it awful when you have to choose between doing nothing or something you hate? I want something do to that I WANT to do!!! -Me

Cricut!

My new toy came today. It is the only electronic in the apartment that you can tell is mine because it is NOT black. Very much girlie. Can't wait to get it up and running :)

Favorites

The past two months have been busy and stressful. Teaching full time, going to school part time, and having all the other normal to do list type things make life a bit rough at times. The times when I'm ready to give up, I like to remember the little things I like to call my favorites.......

Students:
-The 11 year old student who always pretends to understand the geometry lesson that was left on my white board, reading it out loud and trying to sound important.
-The 12 year old student who regularly changes his name to video game characters and the other students who seriously accept this and willingly call him "Link".
-The student who was so worried about me passing my biochemistry exam yelling good luck as I left for USU.
-Being able to talk favorite books with my students because we have the same taste in literature.
-The student who spent a week saying only "that's a cool story bro" as his response to everything. Literally these were the only words spoken for five whole days.

Husband:
-When Taylor rolls over in the middle of the night and puts his arm around me. (This is always better than when he kicks me or hits me in the face).
-How excited Taylor still is about French Toast, even though I've made it for him every Saturday and Sunday for the past two months.
-When we play angry birds together while we wait in lines or for events to start.
-That he tries to send me cute texts, but can never get his phone to type the word love. "My live" "I live" and "you tool" are common.

Life:
-All the amazing food sales at Macey's. Bagels for a dollar and 40 oz cereal for 2.38!
-Cooking a good meal.
-Having money in the bank (even though Taylor is going to spend it all).
-Treating book stores like libraries. Returns are a beautiful thing and I never have to wait for my name to reach the top of the hold list. Wal-mart should realize I can buy, read, and return a book all in one day. (I don't do this often. I just really couldn't wait to read the Red Pyramid)!

Those are the things that keep me going when the going gets tough.

Random Updates

So I've decided that pictures really are worth a lot more than a bunch of words. I wanted to upload some photos as an update for what's been going on in life. I still don't know how to use my blog very well, so I don't know how to caption each picture. So, the first pics are of my awesome lime green bathroom. Hand-painted and sewn by me :) The next picture is my amazing new white handbag. That was Taylor's Valentine's Day gift to me. So I can carry lotion for him and smuggle in more candy to the movie theater. The last picture is how to decorate on a tight budget for a dinner/dance of 350 people. You use plastic cups and pipe cleaners of course! That's my update in pictures. Hope you enjoyed. -Me

Time Time Time....I wish I had more Time!

I was just looking over my blog and realized I never did post those pictures of my wedding dress. Don't worry I still haven't ordered prints of our wedding pictures. I still haven't sent out any thank you notes. There is a lot I still haven't done. I wish I had more time. More time to study for biochemistry. More time to prepare for teaching. More time to sleep. More time to cook and to clean. More time to run errands, like changing my name so I don't have to do everything under my maiden name. More time to laugh, and more time to cry. I've decided I need to get rid of some of my time wasters. I have recently become addicted to heroes on Netflix. I've never seen an epsiode before, so now I now what all the rage was about 5 years ago. The fact is though, that I still need an outlet. A stress relief. Otherwise Taylor will have to get used to me crying everyday instead of just twice a week :) I've decided posting on the blog a little more often might help. I'll put up more pictures and update my life. Have a little fun. I haven't posted because of the terrifying stories of people losing jobs and I can just imagine what would happen if my students found my blog or my facebook. Hence, it will be completely appropriate and possibly utterly boring. Look for pictures later this week (after I fail my biochem exam). -Me
